Sample Itinerary:
Spring in Russia
Day 1 - ST.PETERSBURG
Arrive at St. Petersburg airport in the afternoon where you will be met by
an English-speaking guide who will accompany you to the hotel to check in.
After getting situated we will set out on our first city tour followed by an
exciting and energetic performance by the Nevsky folklore ensemble during
dinnner.
Day 2 - ST.PETERSBURG
9.30 Departure to the Preobrazhenskaya Church to see, but especially to
hear, part of the Orthodox Liturgy, then spend the rest of the morning being
dazzled by the collection in the legendary Hermitage Museum. Late lunch
followed by free time on the Nevsky Prospekt to shop and explore. Evening
ballet or theatre performance depending on availability (approx. 50 EUR),
dinner afterwards.
Day 3 - ST.PETERSBURG-OVERNIGHT TRAIN
Load luggage onto the bus and leave hotel by 9.30 for an excursion to
further discover this “Venice of the North”, one of the world’s most
beautiful cities. Afternoon vistit to Yusupov Palace, complete with
Rasputin Murder Museum followed by lunch in the delightful
“Demidov”-Restaurant. Proceed to railway station in the early evening to
board the overnight train to Yaroslavl. Dinner on the train.
Day 4&5 - YAROSLAVL ON THE VOLGA RIVER
Early morning arrival, time to rest and freshen up before breakfast.
Discover Yaroslavl, a treasure on the Golden Ring of Russia’s medieval
cities. You will have the chance to visit a school, the local market, an art
museum and plenty of time for shopping and to relax. You will also have the
pleasure of spending an evening at home with a Russian family.
Day 6 - YAROSLAVL-SERGIEV POSAD-MOSCOW
This morning travel by bus to Moscow, enjoying colorful old houses and towns
along the way. Stop for lunch then travel on to St. Sergius Monastery, the
“Vatican of Russia” with dinner nearby. Travel the short distance on to
Moscow and check into Hotel Izmailovo.
Day 7 - MOSCOW
It will be an action packed day starting with the Kremlin, Red Square and of
course Lenin's tomb. Later in the day visit the GUM department store and
take in some more sightseeing by taking the famous Moscow Metro. Finish the
day with a visit to Circus followed by a late dinner.
Day 8 - MOSCOW
Enjoy the morining at the Moscow flea market, delightful for it’s folk art
and it's folks. This is THE place for last minute souvenir shopping.
Lunch together for the last time at a restaurant serving delicious Georgian
cuisine. Late afternoon transfer to airport for flight home.
